Review Policy

Welcome to my CrazyQuilts blog! The focus of what I do is to provide information to improve the critical literacy skills of teens and preteens of color. I live and work to promote equity, social justice and inclusion. While I focus on improving representation in children’s books by removing biases, racism, bigorty and Whiteness, that is ‘White culture, norms, and values that have become normative natural‘. My work isn’t just about the books.

With respect to reviewing books:

I review books written by authors of color or books that feature teens and preteens of color as main characters and that will be available for purchase in the US. It may take me 1-3 months to prepare and ‘publish’ reviews and from time to time and at times, I may stop accepting books in order to catch up.

I am not a professionally trained reviewer, however I do see a need for #ownvoicereviews. I provide my own perspectives about what I read. I keep honing my talents to provide useful and insightful information in what I write. I do also provide some author interviews and giveaways. I base my reviews in critical literacy theory.

I do not sell books that are given to me. I either add them to a library or pass them along to my readers.
